Ear Candling ![]() Known also as
thermal-auricular therapy, this treatment is
a folk medicine practice that is said to assist the natural clearing of cerumen (earwax) and remove toxins from a patient's ear by means of a hollow candle that is placed in the ear canal. The end of the candle is then lit, allowing for the wax to be heated gently and used to draw toxins and accumulated debris from the ear in a calm and soothing manner. Patients lie on their side and relax while the practitioner watches the progress of the treatment. Those that have undergone ear candling report an improved hearing and clearer sinuses. A session can last up to 45 minutes, during which a series of 1 or 2 candles may be burned in each ear. |
